Title: Are these two esters the same?
Post by: Victoria030 on September 06, 2020, 08:45:27 PM
I am confused with these two esters with the similar name but different with the number of C. Are they the same or one is belong to the other? The esters are as below.
Fatty acids, C5-10, esters with pentaerythritol. CAS no. 68424-31-7
Acids, fatty (C 8-C 22), esters with pentaerythritol'. With no CAS number.
Thanks a lot.

Both are probably  mixtures of various compounds. It seems they are esters of pentaerythritol with varous fatty acids with different number of carbon atoms, the first one having acids with 5-10 carbons while the second having 8-22 carbons
