Title: Geometry of Pt(PPh3)2Cl2
Post by: Winga on September 26, 2006, 12:28:02 PM
I am assigning the point group of (cis-/trans-)  Pt(PPh3)2Cl2, but I am not sure that it is square planar or rectangular.

Any suggestion?

It's square planar.

Rectangular? I've never seen that used to describe geometry in this context. Out of interest, do you have any examples of complexes described as rectangular?
