Title: Synthesis Diethyl Malonate through Bayer Villager oxidation: has it sense?
Post by: xshadow on November 17, 2020, 11:49:08 AM
Hi

Theoretically has it sense this synthesis (not from a pratical point of view):

Is it possible?

I don't know if the bayer villager can oxidize that Ethyl group or can also  be a competition with the alkyl -esteric group in the other side

I don't think... but according to us???
Thanks

Thanks

Maybe its possible. Is this a theoretical problem? Practically its no good way to make diethyl malonate.

Yes
It was something that come to my mind ...but only ""theoretically""
