Title: Balancing Chemical Equations help

I've been stuck on this for hours now. I've asked classmates for help, emailed the teacher, watched countless Youtube videos, but I still don't understand it. The question is   Na + H₂ O -> NaOH + H₂    Please explain how to do this. I understand most parts but when you add the Hydrogens together and then you have to multiply it I don't know which Hydrogen to multiply.

Please elaborate, it is not clear what you mean by "you have to multiply" and "which Hydrogen to multiply".

Write down steps you did and show where you are getting lost.
