Title: Schemes

What is the best way to do schemes in a manuscript? I am trying to do copy and paste in word from chemdraw but I am not sure if this is OK. Another way is to save schemes in chemdraw as jpg or tif files and import them to the worddocument. Any suggestions?

Copy paste works well and you can edit the image in the manuscript

Thanx kriggy. I have asked ACS as well. I am more interested in the actuall chemistry and not all the details around making a manuscript. Its fun to learn new thing though.

If you are on a windows PC, Chemdraw allows you to edit the schemes from Word, but on the Mac, at least in the newer editions, it does not seem to work, so you will need to save the schemes in Chemdraw and then export a copy of the image to Word.     I would keep copies of all of the chemdraw files separately, as well as backups of the word doc, as sometimes they get corrupted and the links break.

I do the work on PC. The have a rule for graphics that it should be at least 1200dpi, is this something that can be a problem with chemdraw?

I've never had any trouble with using the "as-pasted" graphics, but sometimes have had to generate high-resolution schemes separately in Chemdraw or whatever software I was using.
