Title: Are these all thiols?
Post by: vetstudentizzy on January 06, 2021, 06:33:20 AM
Hello,

I've recently had a chemistry test, one of the questions asked "which of these are not thiols?", and the given answers were:

2,3-dimercaptopropanol
cysteine
coenzyme A
glutathione

I thought they were all thiols?!

The 2 second ones have cysteine in their peptidchain. Threfore  there all of Thiolgroups.

Thank you for the reply, that's what I thought too.

The question asked which ones are not a thiol so I was wondering if any of them could be argued to be "not a thiol"...

Maybe it was a trick question. Just feels weird to have a MCQ that requires none of the answers to be checked!
