Title: Oxycodone synthesis
Post by: Zeon37 on January 22, 2021, 07:44:38 PM
Hi everyone! For one of my chem assignments we have to take a compound and write out the synthesis in detail and explain verbally a breakdown of each step.
I chose one of the semi-synthetic opioids—oxycodone—. I’m really confused on what to do following hydrogenation. It’s says to wash with water and dry over sodium sulfate in vacuo. Please help me!!

write out the synthesis in detail

I am afraid discussing practicalities of the synthesis will be against our forum rules (https://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?topic=65859.0). No problems with discussing reaction mechanism though.
