Title: Hydrogels and pH scale

why is it important that when hydrogels are implanted to the body, that the pH level of the hydrogels are the same as the pH levels of the surrounding body tissue?

Would you pour an acid/base on skin?

(yes, that's an exaggeration, but that's more or less what it is about)
