Title: Naming organic compounds
Post by: niceguy@1212 on April 08, 2021, 04:34:40 PM
What's wrong in this name?

2-mercaptopenten-2-ol

I was thinking -SH and -OH cannot be at the same position. therefore this makes the compound wrong.

I tend to agree with your answer.  I think that there may also be a piece of information that is missing in this name.
