Title: question about nuclear penetration energy
Post by: tisu85 on October 12, 2006, 03:25:04 PM
i have a hw question:
what is the minimum energy that (a) a proton and (b) a 12C nucleus would require in order to penetrate the nucleus of 208 Pb.
Take R=1.2*10-13(A11/3+A21/3)cm

I ve try to look for the equation for this ...but i couldn't find any

It's just z1Z2e2 / R

Where e2 equals 1.44 Mev*fm.
