Title: 97% Sulfuric acid from 2014, what to do with it?
Post by: SamanthaMcOw on June 28, 2021, 06:04:43 PM
Hi,

In one of the chemical container cabinets, I found 95-97% old/5L of sulfuric acid. My question is basic :D

What to do with it :D Sulfuric acid is from 2014, and I don't know if it still active or not, should we dissolve / evaporate...

Is the mineral solvent like that dangerous in this case, or just lost most of the concentration or is more stronger?

Best :)

Should be good as fresh.

There is a slight chance it absorbed some humidity from the air so it has a bit lower concentration.

With reference to the comment by Borek, you can use concentrated sulphuric acid as a drying agent (instead of P2O5) in a desiccator.
