Post by: munchkin66 on October 10, 2021, 05:03:08 PM
Equation 1. Is balanced, however my answer was that but half, would my answer (2.) also be correct?

1. 4NH3 + 5O2  :rarrow: 4NO+ 6H2O

2. 2NH3 + 2.5O2  :rarrow: 2NO + 3H2O

By convention correctly balanced chemical equation should contain only integer coefficients.

Fractional ones are nothing uncommon while balancing, but are inconvenient to use in many situations. Plus, as with every convention in every trade - if you don't follow it you risk being misunderstood by others even if you are right.
