I don't understand a thing studying this type of gaschromatography injector

My book says that sample vaporization it's obtained through a temperature gradient, from the lower temperatures  value to the higher one - in about 5-10 seconds

Now when the more volatile species are vaporized (in the first seconds) do  they immediately reach the gc coloumn...or  all the spacies will  reach the coloumn at the same time , after the end of temperature gradient / temperature program ???!
