Title: Research Project on Bisphenyl A
Post by: PeachSalsa on October 11, 2021, 04:27:19 PM
Hi guys,
I’m currently working on a research project for my final year of my bachelors degree.
The project is to develop and validate a method for the determination of bisphenyl a (2,2 diphenylpropane) in drinking water.

First off could someone help me determine the class of compounds bisphenyl is a part of? I suck at organic chemistry.

Second off, how would you guys suggest to start looking for methods? Would methods of quantification for bisphenol A work in this case?

2,2-diphenylpropane is an aromatic hydrocarbon.

It depends wheter the method focus on the reaction with the phenyl rings or aromatic -OH groups, or molecules as a whole (chromatography).

Bisphenyl will have lower solubility in water than the bisphenol so the method should be more sensitive.
