Title: Is it worth my money to produce an alcohol via a carboxylic acid reduction?
Post by: RisingEastStar17 on February 02, 2022, 04:04:02 AM
Let's say I want to make methanol from methanoic acid, which by the way since I live in Australia, methanol is near impossible to obtain but formic acid is sold as toilet cleaner (for some reason). Is it worth spending time on a sodium borohydride reduction or should I just destructively distill some wood?

No, that wont work. Also borohydride is not free, it costs money
