Title: In need of feedback concerning a mechanism
Post by: Ebbe Loos on April 16, 2022, 12:34:46 PM
Hi!

I'm working on a project involving multiple steps, including a mechanism which I've never seen before. That's why I'm hoping you guys will give some feedback.

The step involving my question (see attached files, first picture). An aromatic structure with an bromide group (coming from alcohol +PBr3) needs to react to an Ar-I.

So, i tried something and this mechanism (see att. files, 2nd picutre) looked the best.

So, what do you guys think?

Thanks!
Ebbe

When you have Copper(I) involved its not Sn2 I think. Its like something like Sandmayer:
