Title: Strontium hydroxide in water
Post by: miemie on May 06, 2022, 12:54:27 PM
“Write an equation that represents the action in water of strontium hydroxide as an Arrhenius base. (Be sure to include the correct charges for ions.) Express your answer as a chemical equation.”

I believe the answer to be this: Sr(OH)2->Sr2++2OH-
But the site says it is incorrect. I also tried putting H2O on the left side, but it says it’s incorrect as well. I have unlimited attempts, so I have tried putting in just about every answer imaginable. Any insights are appreciated.

Looks OK to me. Can it be some formatting issue? Does the site expect giving state of matter in the reaction equation?

Try: Sr(OH)2 ---> Sr(OH)+ + OH-
