Title: ammonium salts
Post by: ccj on September 30, 2004, 01:03:48 PM
i read something bout ammonium salts of non-oxidising acids and also ammonium salts of oxidising acids.

how to know where the acid is oxidising or non-oxidising. what's the difference?

One can look this up in oxidation-reduction potential tables.

There is one compound, namely ammonium persulfate (NH4)2S2O8 which brokes the oxidation rules. Persulfate anion is a very strong oxidizer but not oxidises ammonia bound in its molecule..
