Title: what reactants will produce this enone?
Post by: a confused chiral girl on December 04, 2006, 12:36:32 AM
I am trying to draw the structures for the carbonyl electrophile and enolate nucleophile that react to give the enone below. I have attempted this question, but it is wrong. I don't know what structures to draw. Can someone please show me? Thank you so much!!

ps. First picture is the enone
second picture is my unsuccessful attempt.  :'(

Try counting carbons again.

I hope this is right....

Think about the product you would get from that aldol condensation.  Are all of your carbons in the right place?

are you hinting that it would be like this?  ;)
