Title: benzoin condensation
Post by: sw2672 on January 23, 2007, 01:17:39 AM
I would like to do the benzoin condensation. The starting materials are 2-chloroaldehyde and other aromatic aldehydes.  However, I could not make it when the reaction was carried out with KCN in EtOH/H2O. Is there any idea to do it?  Please help me

You can try for the other CN sources with Molecular Seives as a catalyst(MCM -41 or zeolites)
