Title: Upgrade Complete
Post by: Mitch on May 09, 2007, 02:51:23 AM
I'm going to consider the upgrade complete for all intents and purposes. Posts seem to be still popping in without any outside intervention, which is really strange I know, but whatever got lost is now considered permanently lost. My apologies to anyone this effects, but its a real small fraction of the total database that got moved.

The one remaining major issue is getting the attachments to work again, and I'll work on it through out the week. There are still a few other things I would like to change like the way the user-info on the upper right of every page looks like. But, these will be put on the usual, "whenever Mitch gets to it schedule".

The forums should run faster now, since we've also switched hosting providers. But, lag for the short-term should be expected. Bye-bye canaca.com hello mediatemple.net.

Also, if you had any files on the old server, you need to tell me to bring them over here. OR I will forget and not do it. I'll be canceling the canaca account in a few weeks, so you need to tell me soon if you still want your old files.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I think this will all work out much better.

Mail accounts (xxx@ chemicalforums.com) were moved or not? I can't get to my account, not that I used it much.

When I click on any of the blog links, I get a message that I am not allowed to do that.

Maybe this is user error actually...

Looking at the Martian Volcanoes bit on the home page, if I click on the 'More RSS' at the bottom of the section, I get the page:
http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?page=rss
saying:
An Error Has Occurred!
Restricted page, I'm sorry you are not authorized to view this page.

However, I just tried clicking on the 'Sciencebase Science Blog' at the top, and that worked fine.

Finally!

Can someone tell me what's up with...

M.~¶˜°"ThùÏ&Ø¡ÒFâÌ›L—tŠmhOêÈ–2 HH+ÚÈ·†¯Ð 0G„ŠÑýª”¼9¶hÓÐ#÷N'UFbÊžê.$¡`e?«3þx¯·.!`˜ZˆÙ«!óc»A$†Ó’ñ+Ñ¢B!!™o6jBýôÍP»ˆOýYV¯ º dž:–Ë 8Ôc…eZHqyzËÍV –ŸýÄ:䯗Émq9ƒnžgÀÀñ>›÷3 ¿›ÆdBp;ï¡òÒª4oT¬“2Q& Í

It's at the bottom right of the page.

Also why is there an increase in advertisement for registered users?

You shouldn't see any ad in the left column if you have at least 100 posts.

The one that appears at the bottom of the first post in each thread is default for all membergroups.

There will be more ads. It would be best to get use to the idea. I'll keep them as "discreet" as possible.

Discrete ads sure beats continuous ads, but did you mean "discreet"?

I'll live with the adds, but NO POP UPS. I hate pop ups. Please never ever us pop ups. I'm absolutely begging you on this one. NO POPUPS.
