Title: Organic Spectrum #1
Post by: gregpawin on April 12, 2004, 03:46:41 AM
Hehehe... I'll start a new game here... using spectral data we're going to have a contest of who can find the structure, if you win, you'll be our organic guru of the day:

Problem 1:

C12H20O4
Mass Spec:

Carbon 13 NMR:

ppm   Intensity
171.98   265
61.07  1000
54.97   245
31.38   840
25.25   462
22.76   890
14.09   946

Hydrogen NMR:

And since they don't give integration data:
ppm     Number of Hydrogens      Type of Peak
4.18                 4                           quartet
1.976               4                            triplet
1.524               4                           quintet
1.436               2                            triplet
1.246               6                            triplet

This is a great idea. What's the source for all the spectra?

Well, it was from the NMR spectra database in the links section... but maybe its good that its gone because people could cheat that way and just plug in the peaks...

since no one got it... I'll just post it.  Probably too hard and without DEPT or other kinds of carbon NMR.
