Title: quick questions
Post by: zeshkani on September 05, 2007, 11:42:18 PM
in this reaction :

  CuCl2 + Na2O2 --> Cu2O/CuO + 2NaCl + xO2

well my question is i need to find out how many grams i need to fully react CuCl2 with Na2O2

iam given 2.00g of CuCl and thats it, and i need to find how many grams would it take of Na2O2 to fully react with CuCl2

iam just stuck on this question, it feels like iam not given enough information
 any help is welcome

Walk through these...

What is the molecular mass of CuCl2?
If you have 2g, how many moles is that?
What is the molecular mass of Na2O2?
How many moles of Na2O2 does it take to react with one mole of CuCl2?
How many moles total do you need then?
What is weight of that many moles of Na2O2?

Any questions?

Note: you have two possible products in unknown proportions - so you don't have enough information for exact answer. However, you can do calculations for both products - and that will give you minimum and maximum amount of Na2O2 required.
