It is traditional for graduate students in our Chemistry department to present a seminar in their third year that is completely unrelated to their research project. I was wondering if any organic chemists out there would like to share a little about their research. I'm sure y'all could give me plenty of good ideas for my presentation.

Just read some papers in chem. comm. plenty of good short papers to present there.

I can't believe that I've given people a chance to talk about their research and this is all I've gotten. It's a great suggestion, but not exactly what I wanted.

Stop moaning!
Why not try to find a natural product that is a challenge to organic chemists and discuss a couple of groups attempts toward their goals. Highlight the pros and cons of each route.

Most people wouldn't talk about their research to a complete stranger on the internet anyway - what would your funding body say if you splashed all of your research about before they even know what you have done? I'm assuming that most people's research is alittle bit confidential to some degree.
Usually these things are there to get you to do a literature review about something you might be interested in or know about. Not so that you can ponce ideas of off someone else.
Do some work of your own you lazy bastard.. ;) :P
PS
(no real offence ment here - I was a student and a post grad once - it all seems very difficault and depressing when writing a Ph.D. thesis.... that is until you get a real job and realise that you can't just waltz in just in time for lunch, do a couple of hours work and go home again... ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D )

My research is too complicated to explain succinctly.
