Title: Calculating Formal Concentrations
Post by: renup on October 02, 2007, 09:07:34 PM
I know that Formal concentration differs from Molar concentration, in that Formal concentration

Quote
indicates moles of the original chemical formula in solution, without regard for the species that actually exist in solution.

But for example, If I'm given the Molarity of Barium Chloride (BaCl2) to be 0.12M

What am i supposed to do to get the Formal concentration?

In this case aformal concnetration is equivalent to molar concentration of positive or negative charges in the solution, and
F= 2M
