Title: Intermolecular forces between things like dimethyl ether?
Post by: Google555 on November 03, 2007, 04:59:50 PM
diethyl ether
(CH3CH2)2O

butanol
CH3(CH2)3OH

2-butanol
CH3CH2CH(OH)CH3

2-methyl-1-propanol
(CH3)2CHCH2OH

2-methyl-2-propanol
(CH3)3COH

I got Hydrogen boning and dipole-dipole for all ofthem ...but I just guessed...I dont know really..

CAn someone help me out please? So confued

H-bonding occurs for compounds that have O-H, N-H, F-H bonds in the compound.

diethyl ether (CH3CH2)2O  does not have O-H bonds, only C-H and C-O bonds

all the other compounds (alcohols O-H) do have H-bonding
