Title: Ether formation references
Post by: DrCMS on November 07, 2007, 07:10:39 AM
Does anyone have any experience or references for this type of reaction:

nucleophilic nitro displacement reaction to give an ether

a phenol + aromatic nitro + potassium carbonate in DMF

I don't think this paper involves potassium carbonate but it involves nucleophilic displacement of deactivated nitro groups in the ortho/para positions to strong electron withdrawing groups (acids, cyano) in DMSO and DMF to give aromatic ethers.  Interesting and may be of use to you.
