What are the chemical formula's for
1. alcohol
2. ether ???
-
An alcohol is a general term for an carbon chain with an -OH added on somewhere. General formula is CnH2n+1OH
For example methanol is CH3OH. Ethanol (the alcohol in drinks) is C2H5OH
I'm not sure what ether is. Hope that helped.

Ether is CH3CH2-O-CH2CH3
An ether is R-O-R'
Where R is any arbitrary alkyl group.

alcoholes are organic hydroxy compounds in which one or more 'H' atoms in the alkane is/are replaced by hydroxyl [-OH] group[CnH2n+2O]
eg.
methanol=CH3OH
ethanol=CH3-CH2-OH
ethers are alkyl derivatives of water
[R-O-R']
eg.
CH3-O-CH3=dimethyl ether
