Title: Ionization energy quest-quantum theory?
Post by: ziyaad89 on March 06, 2008, 04:56:43 PM
1)  ??? ionization energy tends to increase from left to right on the periodic table. there are two exceptions to that rule. The two exceptions are sodium and aluminium. Explain them using quantum theory.

2) ??? The IEs of a given atom are IE1=800kJ/mol, IE2=2400kJ/mol,IE3=3700kJ/mol,IE4=25000k... and IE5=32800kJ/mol.Predict the valence electron configuration for the atom and explain your reasoning

3)1)Briefly outline how the line spectra contributed to the evolution of the atomic model.

4)write a COMPLETE set of quantum numbers for i)the highest energy electron(s) in a hafnium(Hf) atom
II)the lowest energy and highest energy electron(s) in a gallium(Ga) atom.
