CAS released the following announcement:
CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, is pleased to announce that it will contribute to the Wikipedia project. CAS will work with Wikipedia to help provide accurate CAS Registry Numbers for current substances listed in the Wikiprojects-Chemicals section of the Wikipedia Chemistry Portal that are of widespread general public interest.
The CAS Registry is the world’s most comprehensive collection of chemical substances and the CAS Registry Number is the recognized global standard for chemical substance identification.
CAS views Wikipedia as an important societal tool for the general public; and this collaboration with Wikipedia is in line with CAS’ mission as a Division of the American Chemical Society.
We look forward to working with the Wikipedia volunteers over the next few weeks to make this happen.

Hmm. That's nice of CAS, it adds a little more respectability to the Wikipedia project in general, and a nice boost for the Wikiproject, which is nice, having a hyperlinked reference of chemical information.
*[EDIT]*
Wait, where is that specific project, or is that just the name for the chemistry pages of Wikipedia?

No idea, TBH I have just copied information posted on some listserver group.
Googling reveals this page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Chemistry
and few clicks from this main page I got to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol, so most likely it means whole wikipedia. But I am just guessing.

Yeah, I recognize those gallium crystals from the Wikipedia article right away. :D But it's nice to have a place to browse, some good stuff on that home page right away.
