Title: CH and CD stretch

Where does the CH stretch in chloroform occur?
Where does the CD stretch in deuterchloroform occur?


We used the FTIR for this experiment. The problem is the find the frequencies. To find the frequency I think the formula is 1/lambda. But where would I look to find out what lambda is?

This information is usually obtained from spectra libraries.  However, chloroform is one of those species that has this data available in most spectroscopy texts.

www.spectroscopynow.com is a huge knowledgebase for spectroscopy including  educational datbases that have this kind of information.

They have an educational link called the Infrared Spectroscopy Primer.

I tried that site and other sites with spectra libraries but couldn't find the information I was looking for.
