can you tell me which is more reactive....

ethyl benzene or just plain old benzene

Would an ethyl group donate electrons or withdraw electrons from the benzene (either through conjugation or the inductive effect)?  What would the effect of donating/withdrawing electrons be on electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions?
