Title: Which product will be formed preferentially at higher temperatures?
Post by: nicnac89 on May 17, 2008, 10:51:04 AM
Hi there, I'm attempting a past paper and I'm not sure about this question:

Which of the two products (3-bromo-3-methylcyclohexene or 3-bromo-2-methylcyclohexene) will be formed preferentially at higher temperatures?  You must give a brief explanation of your answer.

What are the reactants and reagents?  I would guess this is an allylic bromination but you can't predict which product will form unless you know the starting compound(s).
