I have been researching this for 2 days now, to very little avail. I have a project due on Wednesday on the chemical reactions and equations involved in making popcorn. Does anyone know of any usefull sites, or other means of an explanation. Thank You.

You heat the kernel's oil with microwaves until they pop.

I am not aware of any chemical reactions that occur when you pop pop-corn.
I believe its got more to do with the fact that when you heat the kernels the water in them turns to steam and ruptures the casing.
Hope it helps :)
