Calcium carbonate decomposes upon heating, producing calcium oxide and carbon dioxide gas.
a. write a balanced equation
b. how many grams of calcium oxide will remain after 12.25 g of calcium carbonate is completely decomposed?
c. what volume of carbon dioxide gas is produced from this amount of calcium carbonate? The gas is measured at .95 atm and 10 degreeC.

a. CaCO3 -> CaO + CO2
b. 12.25g CaCO3 * 1mol/100g CaCO3 * 1mol CaO/ 1mol CaCO3 * 56g CaO/1mol = 6.86g CaO
c. are you spose to set it up just like B. but go from CaCO3 to CO2 and use volume not grams

Yes it is the same set up but you will calculate moles of CO2 and then plug that into PV=nRT, solving for V.
