In a lab experiment, I was told to mix methanol, KOH, KMnO4 together in a warm water bath.
I know I'm supposed to see a brown precipitate of MnO2 at the end of the reaction. But can anyone explain to me why did I see a orange solution or orange precipitate?
Thanks.

At oxidation the set of connections is formed
Probably, there was a dirty utensils, or not pure(clean) methanol, KOH and KMnO4
