Title: Redox titration
Post by: freeze0912 on October 18, 2008, 10:17:59 AM
I want to ask about redox titration of KMnO4 and H2C2O4
When KMnO4 is added in H2C2O4
There is an obersevration that brown colour solution is given out

If it is because of the complex of Potassium oxalate?

You don't start with brown - you start with purple.

This titration requires low pH, thus you should add sulfuric acid.

Permanganate gets reduced to Mn2+, oxalate gets oxidized to carbon dioxide.
