Title: DIFFERENCE B/W BOND LENGTHS OF gaseous Iodine & solid Iodine.

HI FRIENDS,

In the solid state I-I bond length is 271.5 pm & it's appreciabley
 longer than in gaseous iodine.Why IT'S SO?
