Title: Isolation of sulfur from magnesium sulfate?
Post by: Tungsten on November 15, 2008, 05:19:35 PM
Hi,
I was wondering whether these reactions will produce desirable results...

For making sulfur,
MgSO4 + Cl  :rarrow: MgClO4 + S
MgSO4 + I  :rarrow: S + Mg(IO3)2

Or reduce it to MgS with H2S
MgS + Cl  :rarrow: MgCl + S
MgS + l  :rarrow: MgI + S

Any other combinations?

What do you mean by Cl, I ? Are they diatomic particles or anions in the solution. Moreover, you haven't balance the equation there are only MgCl2 or MgI2 not MgCl or MgI
