Title: Methanol: Acid, Base, or Neutral?
Post by: ZaP on May 06, 2005, 02:42:15 PM
Hi,
Does methanol form an acidic, basic, or neutral aqueous solution?  I've been searching on google forever and can't find the answer.

Thanks!!!

Neutral. When reacting with alkali metals methanol can act as acid, but you will never see it in a water solution.
