Title: BaSO4 electrical properties
Post by: akela on February 25, 2009, 03:29:24 PM
Can anyone tell weather BaSO4 is an insulator or conduct electricity? Interested in DC current, not AC.

Clear.  And warming.  It's nice to walk to work.

Dry ionic solids generally don't conduct electricity.  They tend to if they're melted, or if they're dissolved in water, but BaSO4 is mostly insoluble in water, and you're unlikely to encounter it at > 1000 C.

That really doesn't matter, now does it?
