Question:
Elements A and B combine with oxygen to form their oxides.Oxide of A is solid at room temperature and that of B is a gas.Identify A and B.
Attempt for solution:
I think They are silicon(Solid forming) and Carbon.
But the real answer is:A-metal
B-Non metal.
Is my answer correct too?

Well, your answer is not wrong, if that's any use, or indeed makes sense.
However, there are more elements than just silicon and carbon, so perhaps you were really after general terms for the elements.

It says to Identify them, so I thought they were not general answers that was needed.
