Title: Buffer question
Post by: gidget on March 27, 2009, 12:44:39 PM
Our professor gave us some questions to look at about buffers in preparation for a quiz and I'm stuck on how to solve this:

What is the pH of the buffer formed by adding 100mL of 0.150M KHP to
a) 100mL of 0.0800M NaOH
b) 100mL of 0.0800M HCl

Thanks in advance for you *delete me*

Do you know any equations describing buffer pH?

the only thing i can think of to do is to use pH=pKa + log [A]/[HA] but we arent given the ka

So you have to look it up. No other way of solving the question.
