Title: TREN purification
Post by: Cheemistree8889 on April 07, 2009, 07:09:58 PM
I was wondering if anyone has ever distilled TREN?  I found a purification by making the HCl salt but I would much rather distill it.  A method or reference would be great.

Thanks!

Can you identify the substance you're interested in without an acronym?  A quick google search for "TREN" identifies it as an anabolic steroid.  We have a policy, on this board, of not giving procedures involving narcotics, medicines, or explosives.

Tris(2-aminoethyl)amine...it's an encapsulating ligand.

Dear Cheemistree8889;

"Your" Wikipedia page tells you that you easily should be able to do an inert vacuum-distillation, what will lower your Bp. from 265°C to approximately 160°C, depending on the vacuum you are able to reach.

Good Luck!
