Title: Paracetamol GC-MS
Post by: am87 on April 09, 2009, 12:52:06 PM
Hi,

I have generated a mass spectrum for paracetamol after extraction from a co-proxamol tablet and analysis by GC-MS.

Mass Spectrum shows peaks at m/z values 43, 80, 109, 151

Clearly, 151 is the parent ion and 109 is the large fragment formed when the CO-NH bond is cleaved.

Can anyone explain where the peak at m/z 80 comes from as I really don't understand where it could arise from... could it be to do with the conditions under which the sample was run (i.e. GC-MS and not simple MS)

Any thoughts are welcome

Thanks in Advance,
A
