Title: What is a chemical/substance that can create swelling of the skin?
Post by: Khemistry on April 15, 2009, 11:59:58 AM
Hi everyone, I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm trying to find a chemical or liquid that when is rubbed on the skin it causes swelling but not anything serious or harmful. It would need to work on almost everyone's skin not just someone who is allergic to that particular substance.

Any ideas? I need this for a magic trick I'm creating.

MODS: Please feel free to move this to another section of the forums if you feel it would get better answers there.

thank you!

not anything serious or harmful

Not sure if "swelling" and "harmless" are compatible.

heh, semantics I guess.

The swelling induced by a mosquito bite is relatively harmless as is the swelling that may occur when a Dr. gives you an allergy test by injecting a small amount of substance into a portion of your skin. It's controlled, has no long term negative effects and doesn't leave anyone in tears.

Any ideas?
