Title: Organic Synthesis
Post by: Dolphinsiu on April 22, 2009, 10:02:07 AM
Actually I try to find some journal related to the formation of spiro-diene from indole and acetylene as given in attached file, but it seems no journal hasn't mentioned. Actually, I think that the second step is wrong since I don't believe AcOH can have ring opening... If so, I really find difficult to draw another feasible pathway to reach the product spirodiene (II)...but I still want to know the answer. Thanks.

My book says when an acetylene adds to an enamine, a gamma-delta triple bonded amine is obtained....

You are sure triple bond will form...actually I really want to know more about organic synthesis like exam question...=.= maybe my knowledge is limited.....I really get stucked by this question as I have thought two days. Still I have no idea
