Title: Organic Chemistry Book
Post by: xaenir on June 21, 2009, 03:39:20 AM
Can someone suggest a good organic chemistry book which teaches how to predict reaction mechanisms (not just states them) and clearly explains all the steps in the reaction simultaneously building up the logic why a certain step should occur the way it is and not by any other way...
I tried some books like morrison boyd , francis carrey, solomons but they do not fully meet the above criteria,(though morrison boyd meets the criteria to some extent)

Maybe "Guidebook to Mechanism in Organic Chemistry" by Peter Sykes (http://www.amazon.com/Guidebook-Mechanism-Organic-Chemistry-6th/dp/0582446953) will be accurate.

"Mechanisms in Organic Reactions" By R.A. Jackson is also quite nice to read and learn from.
