Title: Chalcone Dibromide to Isoxazole (Mechanism)
Post by: matt291 on July 19, 2009, 11:07:59 PM
Hey everyone; my organic II lab prof. thinks it completely reasonable that we know the mechanism for converting a chalcone dibromide to an isoxazole...personally, I have no idea what this mechanism consists of. Anyone care to help?

Thanks!

What level is organic II?

If you don't know the structures, then http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=chalcone+dibromide+to+isoxazole - to me at least gives a freely accessible paper as hit number 3 with the transformation in. As to the mechanism, seems pretty straightforward, so yes, I think it's reasonable.
