Title: Sn2 mechanism
Post by: 1 good kid on June 04, 2005, 01:08:37 PM
Explain why the alkyl halides listed below would be expected to react in the order shown by an SN2 mechanism under identical reaction conditions.

CH3CH2CH2Br > (CH3)2CHBr

CH3CH2CH2CH2I > CH3CH2CH2CH2Cl

CH3CH2CH2CH2Cl >  (CH3)2CHCH2Cl

(CH3)2CHCH2CH2Cl > CH3CH2CH(CH3)CH2Cl

CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2Cl > C6H5Cl
